Yes, Gothard’s hermeneutical practices (i.e., his interpretive practices) leave a lot to be desired.  But now we’re getting ahead of our story. 
   Gothard’s new-found academic abilities helped him get into Wheaton College, a private Christian liberal arts college 25 miles west of Chicago.  Wheaton has an excellent academic reputation and has produced many outstanding graduates, including Billy Graham from the class of 1943.
